Access Allround was approached by a homeowner seeking a safe and practical ramp solution to improve access from the front door to the garden gate. The client’s initial preference was for a direct ramp route; however, space constraints within the front garden required a more considered and creative design approach.

Scope of Work

The project involved the supply and installation of a modular ramp system to the front of the property. Due to the limited available space, it was not feasible to install a straight ramp from the front door to the gate. Instead, a bespoke layout was required to maximise usability while preserving as much of the garden area as possible.

Close collaboration with the client was essential throughout the planning stage to ensure the final design met their expectations and maintained access to the garden.

Installation

Design Adaptation

To overcome spatial limitations, the ramp was designed to run around the garden rather than directly to the gate. This approach allowed the installation to fit within the available area while still providing a safe and effective access route.

Client Collaboration

The layout was developed in consultation with the client to ensure they were fully satisfied with both the functionality and positioning of the ramp, as well as the impact on their outdoor space.

Groundworks Preparation

Comprehensive groundwork was carried out prior to installation. A weed membrane was installed beneath the ramp system to prevent grass and weeds from growing underneath, creating a low-maintenance solution, which was particularly important given the restricted access for ongoing upkeep.

Ramp Installation

The modular ramp system was installed securely, following the adapted layout to provide smooth and reliable access from the front door through the garden.

Paving Integration

A new section of paving was installed at the end of the ramp to ensure a safe and stable transition onto the existing pathway, improving overall usability and safety.

Outcome

The completed installation provides a practical and thoughtfully designed access solution despite the constraints of limited space. By rerouting the ramp around the garden and incorporating maintenance-reducing groundwork, the project successfully balances accessibility with preservation of the outdoor area.
The client now benefits from a safe, easy-to-use ramp system that integrates seamlessly with their property while remaining functional, low-maintenance, and tailored to their needs.
